The Digital Revolution You Missed: How Migrant Youth Fought Back and Built Their Own Internet Empire
Digital Passages: Migrant Youth 2.0
In this video, we dive deep into the groundbreaking study 'Digital Passages: Migrant Youth 2.0' by Dr. Koen Leurs. Based on four years of research tracking 344 Moroccan-Dutch teens, this video reveals a hidden digital war. We expose the shocking truth about 'neutral' algorithms that brand minority youth as criminals before they even search, the myth of the digital divide, and how these teens used platforms like MSN Messenger and forums like Marokko.nl to build secret safe havens, fight back against racist politicians, and even invert traditional family power structures. But it's not all triumph—we also uncover the dark side: digital honor killings, the weaponization of selfies, and the devastating real-world consequences of online actions. Watch to see how a generation of 'space invaders' is reshaping the internet and what it means for the future of AI and social media.
