China’s Position in the Reconstruction of World Order This article provides an in-depth analysis of the strategic decisions and role transformation facing China amid the collapse of the post-World War II international order. The author notes that as U.S.-European relations fray, the appeal of international organizations declines, and comprehensive U.S.-China competition escalates, the world is entering a period of order reconstruction filled with uncertainty. As a beneficiary of the old order, China is attempting to balance maintaining existing interests with promoting alternative global initiatives such as the Belt and Road. Meanwhile, the United States, perceiving its own interests as threatened, is accelerating the creation of an exclusionary new international order. The article stresses that the core of U.S.-China competition lies in a contest of institutional vitality and cultural systems. To break through at this strategic crossroads, China must guard against brittle fractures in its high-quality rise, adhering to domestic reform and opening-up while adopting prudent, rational political arithmetic to meet unprecedented global disorder.
