In the Name of the Nation: Frontier Politics and Conflict Destinations in Northeast India (Sanjib Baruah) This scholarly work delves into the political evolution of this frontier region of Northeast India, viewing it as an artificial space reshaped by national security strategies and postcolonial governance. The author argues that the region, under the long-standing legal dominance of the armed forces, particularly the Armed Forces of India (AFSPA), has created an anomalous state in India's heartland, leading to a significant atrophy of democracy and the malpractices of administrative deficiencies. It meticulously analyzes how ethnic identity, resource exploitation, and the controversy surrounding illegal immigration intertwine, particularly through studies of Assam and Nagaland, revealing how these regions have transformed into a hybrid political system maintained by both state and non-state armed forces. By critically supporting the national rhetoric of "maintaining the mainstream," this book aims to address the profound contradictions in contemporary India between upholding full security and differentiated civil rights. 以国家之名:印度东北部的边疆政治与冲突归宿 印度东北部的身份危机与暴力
