The findings reveal a profound divergence in religious participation between the Global North and the Global South, with notable secularization in the West and sustained stability in the South. The Second Vatican Council has led to a decline in global Catholic participation, while wars and economic depressions have significantly boosted religious engagement. The research validates the reliability of retrospective data in capturing macro-level trends.
