Are You a Legislator or an Interpreter? How Modern Society Trains You to Obey
In this video, we dive deep into Zygmunt Bauman’s groundbreaking work, *Legislators and Interpreters*, to uncover the hidden structures that shape how you think, learn, and consume. From the modern era’s 'gardener state' that prunes society like a garden, to today’s algorithm-driven 'cultural supermarket' that seduces you into obedience, we explore the shift from absolute authority to fragmented interpretation. Discover how the cover, title page, and copyright of a PDF act as invisible legislators, while you, the reader, are merely an interpreter in a cage of market forces. Bauman’s key insight: knowledge is power, and your freedom is an illusion. Watch to understand why you’re not as free as you think—and how to reclaim your role as a true interpreter in a world of curated realities.
