This document delves into the evolution, current challenges, and future trajectory of US-China relations, arguing that the two countries have shifted from constructive engagement to a new normal characterized by strategic competition. Through the perspectives of multiple experts, the text analyzes the continuity and differences in policy between the Trump and Biden administrations, highlighting a fundamental shift in US perception of China—no longer viewing it as a potential partner in liberal democracy, but rather as a systemic competitor. In exploring the root causes of conflict, the text emphasizes the crucial role of mutual perceptual biases and national identity construction: the US tends to portray China as a threatening other to maintain domestic unity and global leadership, while... Under the narrative of national rejuvenation, China has displayed a high degree of defensiveness and vigilance towards US intervention.
